Fleetwood Youth Hub is celebrating the progress of Jordan, a care leaver who has overcome significant barriers to secure part-time employment while building his confidence and self-worth.
Jordan first came to the Youth Hub in May 2025. At the time, he was living in supported accommodation and presented as anxious and lacking motivation. The team recognised that he wasn’t quite ready for work and referred him to the Lancashire Fire Rescue Service Team Programme in partnership with The King’s Trust to help him build skills and confidence.

Just weeks later, Jordan was thriving. Team Leader Chloe gave glowing feedback on his engagement, and Jordan attended regularly. As part of the programme’s community project, Jordan and his team chose the Volunteer Centre Wyre office. The Volunteers Centre team saw firsthand the effort he put into creating bright and welcoming artwork to improve the space for other young people.
Jordan’s progress continued, and when a part-time job opportunity arose, Jenny — Youth Hub Work Coach and Employment Adviser at Fleetwood Jobcentre — referred him. Jordan was successful and secured the role just a week before his Team Programme ended.
One challenge remained: the job involved bar work with late-night finishes, and the Youth Hub team did not want Jordan to have to cycle home at 2 am. Thanks to extensive work by Jenny, funding was approved to cover his Uber journeys home for the first month, ensuring he could start work safely until his wages came in.
The highlight came when the Volunteers Centre team attended Jordan’s final Team presentation. He delivered a confident speech to a large audience — something that had felt out of reach when he first walked through the Hub’s doors.
Jordan’s story is a powerful example of how multiple services — from the Youth Hub to The King’s Trust and Jobcentre Plus — can work together to support a vulnerable young person. He now moves forward with greater confidence, improved self-worth, and a new job that marks the beginning of an exciting chapter.
