BLACKPOOL CAN
In January 2023 Blackpool Community Action Network was awarded funding from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund to run a project from January 2023 to March 2026.
This was a joint project running in partnership between The Volunteer Centre Blackpool, Wyre, and Fylde, (Community First BWF), Blackpool Citizens Advice Bureau, and Social Enterprise Solutions.
Blackpool CAN’s main objectives are to:
-
EMPOWER the voluntary sector to survive and thrive by providing expertise, support, development opportunities, and training.
-
ENABLE volunteering through our volunteering hub, helping everyone to play an active role in their community.
-
CONNECT communities. Helping to create conditions where everyone’s voice is valued and heard by facilitating great local networking and communication.
“Community Action – Empowering Blackpool Communities”.

OUR SERVICE.
-
Increasing volunteer numbers across Blackpool by providing a free and easy to use database of volunteering opportunities, promoting the benefits and supporting people to find their ideal role.
-
Supporting organisations to include volunteers, advise on best practice and to help them to recruit volunteers to support and continue the great work they do.
-
Delivering small grant programmes throughout the year, allowing organisations and groups to make their ideas into reality.
-
Supporting development of Community Action Networks, connecting people together to provide peer support and advice.
-
Encouraging and facilitating community engagement, ensuring that community needs are at the forefront of what we do.

Our Blackpool CAN team are on hand to provide volunteering and community support both via our Volunteer portal and & through our "drop in" service.
COMMUNITY ACTION
We support a robust volunteer coordinators network where local organisations can come together for peer support and networking. We also help to encourage community groups to turn their ideas into reality with advice on funding, paperwork, local knowledge and training.
ORGANISATION SUPPORT
We provide free advertisement for organisations seeking volunteers through our website. This also includes bespoke support from our team where needed.
We also run small grants funding throughout the year, and also support with advice on NCVO best practice.
