As the new school year begins, BFriend and Well-being has stepped in to support local families through its Back to School event in Blackpool. The community-led initiative provided school uniforms, shoes, coats, and stationery to over 90 families, reaching an estimated 150 indirect beneficiaries.
Alongside essential supplies, families were also offered guidance and signposting to vital services including cost-of-living support, school nurses, Citizens Advice Bureau, and local friendship groups. This holistic approach ensured that parents and carers not only received practical help but also felt supported in navigating wider challenges.
The event also gave families the chance to share their views through a community engagement survey. The feedback highlighted a strong desire for more free community and family events, as well as the creation of a dedicated support group for new parents and guardians.
A spokesperson from BFriend and Well-being said:"
We’re proud to be able to ease some of the back-to-school pressures for local families. It’s about more than uniforms—it’s about creating connections, offering reassurance, and helping people know they are not alone. We’ll continue listening to our community and shaping our support around what families tell us they need."
BFriend and Well-being plans to use the survey results to develop new initiatives over the coming months, ensuring that the voices of local families remain at the heart of their work.
